BUFFELSDRIFT

Klein Karoo | South Africa

“We are genuinely impressed by how beautifully Daniela captured the essence of the farm in such a raw and authentic way – she did a phenomenal job, and we’re truly grateful for the value received in our collaboration..”

There’s something magical about starting the year in a place that encourages stillness and reflection. We spent five blissful days at Buffelsdrift, staying in The Wine Store - a charming little pink house in the heart of the Klein Karoo. Surrounded by vast open spaces and framed by palm trees, it was the perfect retreat for a quiet and intentional start to the year.

The design of The Wine Store is stunning in its simplicity. Its delicate pink exterior stands in striking contrast to the rugged Karoo landscape, while the interiors are understated yet thoughtful. Every corner of the house is a reminder that beauty doesn’t need to be complicated.

Mornings began with breathtaking views over the working olive farm, accompanied by the melodic calls of the many birds that frequent the area. The days were hot, but the eco pool - a natural oasis - offered the perfect way to cool down. We spent hours reading our books, cooking slowly in the well-equipped kitchen, and reconnecting with each other in the tranquility of the space. One of the highlights was the incredible herb and vegetable garden on the property, offering fresh ingredients to elevate our meals. It’s also pet-friendly, and our four-legged friend had the time of his life exploring the grounds and soaking up the serene surroundings.

The house itself is wonderfully isolated, offering complete peace and quiet. There’s a soothing rhythm to life here - one dictated by the natural world rather than a clock. At Buffelsdrift, time slows down, and the simplicity of each moment becomes the thing to long for upon returning home.

If you’re seeking an escape that combines intentional living with breathtaking natural beauty, The Wine Store at Buffelsdrift is a place you’ll never forget - an opportunity to reset and truly savor the start of something new.
